14th March – NSSAA Tournament @ Oswestry School

The tournament saw us play 3 matches v Adcote, Thomas Adams and Oswestry School.

Adcote – Won 221 for 5 wickets, to 209 for 6 wickets

Excellent bowling from Eliza in the first over, saw her take 3 wickets to get us off to a great start. Solid bowling from Lois and Scarlett, saw us take another 3 wickets between them. Our batting was a little less confident, however, steady performances from Esther, Eliza, Flo and Scarlett resulted in a win for Ellesmere.

Thomas Adams – Won 257 for 0 wickets, to 197 for 5 wickets

Great bowling performances from Eliza, Esther, Morgan, Eve and Pippa. Taking 5 wickets in total and with the nerves starting to settle, we produced a confident innings. Not conceding a wicket, the girls had a great batting innings, with notable performances from Poppy, Scarlett, Eve and Flo.

Oswestry School – Won 211 for 7 wickets, to 189 for 8 wickets

A solid bowling innings, with Morgan, Annie, Poppy and Scarlett taking 8 wickets between them, with other solid bowling from Pippa, Lois and Eve. The girls were nervous going into bat for the final time in the tournament, knowing a win would take the North Shropshire title. Lack of communication and indecisiveness led to us losing 7 wickets from the first 3 pairs. In a very nail biting final two overs, Scarlett and Poppy held their nerve to secure the win.
